Merry Christmas

Some more pictures of the neighborhood, since presumably this will all be gone at some point in the next week or so! I sort of expected it might be a little annoying to live in a neighborhood where, for weeks surrounding December 25th, it seems like everyone who can drive down 34th Street is trying to do it. After dark, it's basically impossible to drive to or from my house. People drive down the dead-end alley behind my place, then have to turn around (usually in my driveway). Pedestrians stroll around the neighborhood constantly from dusk until 10 or so. Lots seem to be taking a special detour to see my neighbors' dual Christmas frenzy of lights:

Mini-Miracle Across the Street

But it hasn't really been annoying at all. I like the lights! My neighbors have music, a machine that blows smoke bubbles, and a Christmas countdown clock, among other things. And 34th Street proper has...well, they seem to have all that plus everything else.

A new favorite: The Magnificent Hubcap Tree.

And with the exception of a few people who think it's hilarious to bark at my dogs (seriously people: WHY?), the visitors have been no trouble at all, really pretty nice, actually.
